Your pre-wedding party on your wedding website: dinners, night-before parties and what to say

More and more weddings start the day before: a dinner with family travelling from afar, drinks in the village, a party the night before. If that's you, your guests need to know where and when, just like for the ceremony. That's why the website now has a pre-wedding party section.

Where it appears

The pre-wedding party goes at the start of "The day", before the ceremony and the reception, which is the order your guests will live it in. It has its own date (usually the day before), the time, the venue with a Google Maps link, the address and a short note.

On templates like Verbena it also gets the same look as the ceremony and the reception: a drawing on top, the title in the same lettering and the date and time below. You choose the drawing.

What to put in the note

The note is for whatever guests need to know that doesn't fit in "place and time". A few ideas:

• Who's invited: "For family and those of you arriving on Friday".
• What it is: "Casual dinner, no dress code".
• Getting there and back: "It's a five-minute walk from the hotel".
• Whether to let you know: "Tell us in your RSVP so we can book the table".

For that last one, the custom RSVP questions (also Premium) come in handy: "Are you coming to Friday's dinner?" with a yes or no, and the answers arrive neatly alongside the rest.

If it's only for some guests

There's one website for everyone, so anyone who opens it will see the pre-wedding party. If it's only for some of your guests, say so clearly in the note ("for family") and, if you like, share the details by message only with the people concerned.

How to add it

In the editor, on the "Ceremony & reception" step, at the end, you'll find "Pre-wedding party (optional)". Fill in the venue and it shows up straight away in the preview. Leave it empty and nothing appears on the site.

The pre-wedding party is part of Premium (€139, one-off payment). On Essential it's saved, and it appears on its own if you upgrade to Premium (€60 from your dashboard).
